Virtual Training on Advancing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda
The WPS Group is launching a virtual training on advancing and implementing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in peace and security missions, to take place over two half-days.
The course aims to deepen practitioners' understanding of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, and provide them with valuable insights and tools to implement the agenda in conflict and post-conflict contexts. The course will be conducted virtually over two mornings and will combine theory and practical exercises to maximize learning.
With this course, you will gain:

An in-depth understanding of the WPS agenda, emerging themes and how different conflict and post-conflict countries are implementing the agenda.

A more in-depth understanding of the views and roles of civil society regarding the WPS agenda.

Specific skills and tools to conduct gendered conflict analysis and advocate for gender-responsive programming.

Specific guidance when it comes to advising on gender equality and WPS and tools to address resistance.

OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE
The course will be facilitated by a team of gender equality advisers and trainers with specific expertise in civil society advocacy, security sector reform and peacekeeping.
Below is an overview of the breakdown of the course (subject to change):
Session 1 - Women, Peace and Security: From Policy to Practice
Session 2 - Exploring diverse themes within the WPS agenda
Session 3 - Designing Gender-responsive Policies & Programming (incl. gender & intersectional analysis)
Session 4 - Civil society and women's rights organizations' advocacy on WPS
Session 5 - Advocacy & advising on gender equality and WPS, and addressing resistance
As part of the course, you will also receive a list of reference materials that would be of interest to you in your role, as well as one follow-up support zoom call within three months of the course ending. You will also receive a certificate of completion of the course.
